Despite stiff competition from fellow Broadway stars, James Corden managed to scoop the Best Leading Actor gong at last night’s Tony Awards in New York.
The TV star won the prize for his role in the play One Man, Two Guvnors, and during his acceptance speech he understandably got rather emotional.
Choking back the tears he said:
'My girlfriend Julia gave birth to our son like, five days before we started rehearsals.
'She's my baby mama, and I can't wait to marry her. Seriously, I would not be holding this if it wasn't for her.'
'She makes me say "us" instead of "I" and "we" instead of "me", and I love her. Thank you very much.'
James beat Hollywood legends Philip Seymour Hoffman, James Earl Jones and John Lithgow to get the award.
